Ocean Kayak Inserts

Ocean Kayak uses Inserts to secure components to the kayak. Brass inserts are moulded in to the kayak at the time of manufacture. With brass inserts components can be attached to the kayak without the need to drill holes. In other words the inserts is totally watertight.

Other manufacturers use rivets and screws to secure components to kayaks, such as saddles. These require holes to be drilled into the kayak and a rivet insert with a rivet gun. This system uses friction contact to hold components in place. This system is prone to leakage, allowing water to enter the interior of the kayak.
